Audio-Visual Club

Students in the AV Club support all school audio-visual needs both during and afterschool. The club meets twice a month for training and discussions on audio-visual equipment.

Anime Club

Anime Club members enjoy discussing, looking at and working on personal or specially organized Anime projects. Anime related service activities at CAA and in the community are developed and carried out by club members.  Activities and events change from time to time reflection members' interest.  Anime lovers of all levels of interest and ability are invited to join.

Weaver Chess Club and Chess Team (The Evergreen Knights)

The Chess Club @ Weaver gives students an opportunity to play friendly games of chess against their peers in a low-stress environment.  Students of all levels are welcome to come, as help and instruction is available for those who need it. Chess variants are sometimes played.  For those who wish more competition, there is the possibility of starting an interscholastic Weaver Chess Team, The Evergreen Knights.

Weaver Paranormal Investigators (WPI):

The Weaver Paranormal Investigators is a team of students who are interested in learning more about the paranormal (defined as anything that cannot be explained using natural laws), as well as finding potential natural causes for events that are occurring in supposedly haunted locations in Hartford and nearby.  We will be doing both research on the paranormal, including science, psychology, forensics, criminology, etc., as well as possible investigations in nearby haunted locations.

French Club


The members of French Club have an interest and appreciation for all things French, including culture, food, movies, current events, fashion and wish to promote and enjoy the many contributions that France and other francophone countries have made to the world.  At French Club, we will cook, show movies, discuss current events, play games and do social activities including participating in school events that promote the study of French as a language.

The members of Spanish Club have an interest and appreciation for all things Spanish, including culture, food, movies, current events, and fashion. The members wish to promote and enjoy the many contributions that Spanish-speaking countries have made to the world. Members will participate in International Night and Winter Party.

Weaver News is a student-run club dedicated to and responsible for all aspects of producing the school newspaper. From conceptualizing, writing, and photographing to planning, designing, and creating the final pages, students experience the joy of seeing their names in print while learning the skills and responsibilities of a journalist. Student Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of dedicated student members committed to collaboration, student advocacy, and leadership in the areas of academic excellence, school spirit, recreational activities, and community service.  In addition, members of the SLT seek to model positive behavior, promote healthy interactions, and encourage conversation between the student body, teachers, staff, and administrators.  Come let your voice be heard.

Gardening Club

The purpose of the Garden Club is to promote the love of gardening, enrich the lives of students, and increase awareness of ecology, botany, outdoor recreation and conservation.  Throughout the school year we will learn how to save seeds, grow flowers and herbs, while helping to beautify through nature's landscape.  In addition, we will grow products that will be used in our kitchens during culinary classes.  Come and discover your green thumb.

Sports Club

The Sports Club will provide an opportunity for those young people who are sports enthusiasts to still be a part of the athletic culture at Weaver High School even if they are out of season or didn’t make the team in their respective sport.  This will be done through hospitality and service based projects to be planned during meetings.

Model UN Club 

The MUN Club engages in an authentic simulation of the United Nations system by learning about the UN system, the skills of debate, compromise, conflict resolution and negotiation.  MUN team members have fun learning about the workings of world diplomacy through the lens of current events.  The club will make every effort to organize a visit to the United Nations in New York, in November.  Additionally, students will be able to select a country and represent it at the Model United Nations Regional at the University of Hartford where they will debate their resolutions with other High School Model UN clubs.

Tutoring Club 

The Tutoring Club is available to all students who need support in any subject including but not limited to math, science, social studies, language, writing, reading, etc.  Tutors consist of both teachers and students with a passion to see our student body succeed.

The Entrepreneurs Club is a student run initiative that engages and inspires students to pursue their careers & life by doing what they love. We aim to bring together a group of students who all share one thing; the desire to “Live their passion!” Whether you want to start a non-profit, be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, or open a small business, everyone is welcome to join in exploring the many paths towards becoming an entrepreneur!

Weaver Slam Cypher

Like to write poetry? Spit rhymes? Let folks know what you’re thinking? Want to perform or learn to perform? BRING IT!  We will be learning the art of SLAM Poetry and performance. Our cypher will meet to create and share great work. We will meet with local artists, attend performances, and make a trip to a Big City SLAM (NYC or Boston). Come share your thoughts and make your mark.

Outdoors Club 

The Outodoors Club is a great way to learn about the outdoors, participate in healthy activity, and learn new thing about yourself, regardless of your athletic ability.  When students participate in the outdoor club, planned hikes occur throughout the year exposing you to trails just outside your neighborhood.  Get in touch with nature and a new world today!

iNTER-Dance Club 

In addition to learning how to dance various styles, students will have a chance to learn about the history and culture of the music, be a part of a performance team, and are eligible to take part in a peer to peer training, which can lead to paid summer internships.  No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome.

Cooking Club 

The Culinary Club provides students the opportunity to extend their cooking skills and experience beyond the classroom by cooking specific recipes relevant to their culture.  In addition, students will participate in cooking/food related field trips and activities around the city.  Whether you have aspirations of being a professional chef or just want to increase your cooking skills, the Culinary Club is for you.  This is a colloboration with Parents Opening Doors and will start in January 2015.
